11 months!

Baby girl is 11 months old (and three weeks)!  Less than two weeks and she will officially be a toddler!  I’m going to pretend I didn’t just say that!  I have been feeling so many different emotions about this transition…happy that my baby girl is healthy and developing such a sweet personality…sad that the “baby” phase is over…excited to experience this new chapter of our lives together…reminiscent of all the crazy, wonderful, scary, hilarious, anxious and fun times we’ve had over this past year!  It has all gone by in such a blur, so I’m trying to live in the moment and cherish every second that I have with this sweet, precious peanut!

We experienced a few “firsts” since the last update:
1.       Sitting on Santa’s Lap…this did NOT go as planned!
2.       Thanksgiving…still not eating anything more than baby food purees/pouches, so she didn’t get to indulge…but the rest of us did!
3.       Spending the night at Nana and Granddaddy’s…three times now!  So Mommy and Daddy had much needed date nights….but of course I still woke up at the crack of dawn every time!

We don’t have a checkup until her 1 year visit, so no official measurements.  However, we did have a doctors’ visit for yet another cold/sinus infection/crud episode and she was a little over 18 pounds (I overestimated last month!)

Milestones:
  • Wearing 9 month, 12 month or 6 – 12 month clothes depending on the brand…many of her 9 months are super snug…I think it’s time to retire most of them! L
  • Bedtime is between 6:45 – 7:00 p.m...usually wakes up anywhere between 6:00 – 6:30 a.m.
  • Still sleeping in her crib in her room and napping in her crib or on Daddy’s chest on the weekends (FINALLY retired the swing over Christmas break).
  • Is all over the place!  She especially likes getting into things she’s not supposed to (blinds, electrical outlets, air vents, etc.)!
  • Is officially walking!  She really perfected it the weekend before Christmas.  She walks EVERYWHERE now.  She looks like a little, tiny drunk person walking around…it is hilarious and adorable!  But now she likes to explore even more than she did when she was crawling…not good!  Mommy and Daddy haven’t sat down since she started walking!
  • Still loves eating her toys, books, remote, phone, my hair, etc.!  Puts everything in her mouth!!  Recently has taken a liking to pulling off her socks and eating them!
  • She is a human vacuum!  She can find the tiniest piece of fuzz on the floor, and if we don’t catch her fast enough, will put whatever she finds in her mouth.
  • 6 oz. at each feeding…and now eats three “meals” a day.  She has oatmeal cereal and a YoBaby yogurt or veggie/fruit pouch at school, then a veggie or fruit blend at night.  Still not much success with solid/finger foods.  She is getting good at eating puffs (carefully…one at a time!), but it’s a process!  And she ate some tiny bites of banana this week as well.  Progress!
  • Still NO teeth!  I feel like she’s been teething since she was two months old!
  • Pointing!  She points at everything now (see picture below) J
Favorites:
  • Smiling (all the time!)
  • Laughing…she has the funniest laugh ever…almost a mix between Dr. Evil from Austin Powers and Butthead from Beavis and Butthead ;)
  • Talking/singing
  • Watching Baby First TV
  • Chewing on her hands, toys…anything really!
  • Walking everywhere
  • Story time before bed…and books in general.  She loves turning the pages herself…so adorable!  We have noticed that she’ll turn the pages now and laugh…it’s hilarious!  One of her teachers told us that all the girls in the class were sitting together in a circle, each with a book, while the boys were over in another area banging around with toys.  She said it looked like they were having a book club!  So cute!  I guess that’s the difference in boys and girls! ;)
  • Pulling Mommy’s hair
  • Laughing at Daddy when he “gets her belly” and when he swings her around or tosses her in the air!
  • Loves playing with door hinges, air vents, cords, etc.!  Anything that you’re NOT supposed to play with!
  • Pulling every single toy out of her toy box and placing them all throughout the living room!
  • Opening cabinets and drawers!  We finally installed child locks on all of the cabinets except for the Tupperware drawer…so we just let her go crazy with that one!  She loves pulling everything out and banging around the different pieces and chewing on them!  I guess that’s not very sanitary, but oh well!  She has also taken everything out of the cabinet and gotten inside!  Crazy girl!
  • Oddly enough, she LOVES getting OUT of the bath!  She enjoys bath time, but when we get her out and wrap her up in her hooded towel, she gets the biggest smile on her face.  We always hold her in front of the mirror so she can see herself in her towel and she gets a kick out of it!

Dislikes:

  • Having her face/hands wiped
  • Rinsing her hair during bath time
  • Having her nose sucked!  She acts like we are murdering her!  I just wish she knew we were trying to help her feel better!
  • Being buckled into her car seat
  • Santa!
  • Most holiday décor that sings/dances/etc.  She is terrified of the dancing Santa and Rudolph at Jason’s parents’ house!  They had to put a trash bag over the Santa!
She was NOT happy with Santa!

He was such a sweet Santa!

 Getting into trouble!

This was not staged...she did this all on her own!

Precious baby girl!

 Eating her socks!

Her new favorite...pointing!
