10 Months!

Emma is 10 months (and almost 3 weeks)!  Didn’t I just write her 9 month post??  We are having such a fun time with our sweet girl and just can’t believe she’s almost a year old!!  We have had a busy month so far…all starting with a trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg at the beginning of the month.  Miller and Trisha (Granddaddy and Nana) came along with us so Jason and I could attend the UT/Auburn game.  Emma had a BLAST!  She loved exploring the cabin, going out to eat and people watching!  We also visited the Incredible Christmas Place and she got to meet Santa for the first time!  She didn’t really have a reaction…not happy, not sad….just sat there!  (We were then shocked the next weekend when we had professional photos taken with Santa and she was TERRIFIED!  Cried the entire time…and she’s not a crier!  Photos to come shortly!)

Unbeknownst to us, Emma had another stomach virus while we were in Pigeon Forge!  She had what the pediatrician’s office called “sporadic vomiting” (lovely, I know!)  She randomly got sick on Friday right before we left for our trip, but then was happy and totally fine all weekend.  Then proceeded to get sick right before we left to come back home on Monday…and then again at daycare on Tuesday!  Totally random and we would have never known she had a virus!  It’s always something!!  She sure was happy throughout the whole thing, though!

Another VERY important thing to note…she finally said “Mama!”  She definitely doesn’t say it much, but when those words came out of her mouth, I almost cried!

No doctor’s visit since the last five visits last month (knock on wood!)….so I don’t have her new stats…but I’m guessing she’s probably around 19 lbs?

Milestones:
  • Wearing 9 month or 6 – 12 month clothes depending on the brand…many of her 9 months are super snug…just holding on to them a bit longer! ;)
  • Bedtime is anywhere between 6:45 – 7:30 p.m...usually wakes up anywhere between 5:30 – 6:30 a.m.  Daylight savings time really threw us for a loop!!
  • Still sleeping in her crib in her room and napping in her swing when she’s at home
  • Is all over the place!  Crawling, pulling up onto her feet, exploring EVERYWHERE!  She especially likes getting into things she’s not supposed to (blinds, electrical outlets, air vents, etc.)!
  • Stands without assistance and gets so excited and claps!
  • Said "mama" for the first time!!!  Melt my heart!!
  • On the verge of walking any day now!  She has taken a few steps, but I wouldn’t consider it walking just yet.
  • Still loves eating her toys, books, remote, phone, my hair, etc.!  Puts everything in her mouth!!
  • She is a human vacuum!  She can find the tiniest piece of fuzz on the carpet, and if we don’t catch her fast enough, will put whatever she finds in her mouth.  We had an interesting experience with this over the weekend at Kendall’s 3rd birthday party.  Emma crawled under their dining room table where all the food was, so I lifted up the tablecloth to get her.  I thought she had chocolate cupcake in her hand, so I grabbed it…only to find out that it was a dog turd!!!!  Kingston had left a little surprise for Emma to find!  I could have died!  Needless to say, I was immediately in the bathroom scrubbing both of our hands!!
  • 6 oz. at each feeding…and now eats three “meals” a day.  She has oatmeal cereal and a YoBaby yogurt at school, then a veggie or fruit blend at night.  We have still been hesitant to try “real” foods due to her sensitive gag reflex…but she successfully ate a puff over the weekend without gagging, so maybe we’re getting there! ;)
Favorites:
  • Smiling (all the time!)
  • Talking/singing
  • Watching Baby First TV
  • Chewing on her hands, toys…anything really!
  • Standing...now without mommy and daddy's assistance!  Still loves to pull up on the coffee table, couch, freezer, kitchen chairs, hamper, etc., etc., etc.!
  • Story time before bed…and books in general.  Has started turning the pages herself…so adorable!  We have noticed that she’ll turn the pages now and laugh…it’s hilarious!
  • Pulling Mommy’s hair
  • Laughing at Daddy when he “gets her belly” and when he swings her around or tosses her in the air!
  • Crawling, pulling up, cruising
  • Loves playing with door hinges, air vents, cords, etc.!  Anything that you’re NOT supposed to play with!
  • Eating
  • Waving
  • Bubbles
  • Pulling every single toy out of her toy box and placing them all throughout the living room!
  • Loves sticking her tongue out.  She has the longest tongue ever and her face is hilarious!
  • Opening cabinets and drawers!  We finally installed child locks on all of the cabinets except for the Tupperware drawer…so we just let her go crazy with that one!  She loves pulling everything out and banging around the different pieces and chewing on them!  I guess that’s not very sanitary, but oh well!

Dislikes:

  • Having her face/hands wiped
  • Being buckled into her car seat
  • Plum Organics Sweet Corn and Carrot with Turkey and Sage….mommy and daddy tasted it too…NASTY!
Having fun at Kendall's birthday party!  Notice the tongue!
